I used to do that. They make me do what I do, diligent and full of pride. Then I realized that I was stupid again and I didn't know the rules of the game.

First of all, most of what I do work It's busy but useless. Second, these jobs are seldom related to performance. Guess when I got the best and brightest performance appraisal? That's when I only focused on the most important projects and activities, and the total working hours were the least. (yes, I'm shocked, too!)

So, no matter how soft you are, you have to do all the work they give you, not to respond to any command.

Ask yourself if this task or request is really important. Do you need to attend every meeting, attend each training, and answer every email.

You will find that the best employees often do very little, but they will focus on the most important tasks. You have to learn to distinguish between what ordinary employees do and what companies really want you to do.

   Putting career development on your boss is like keeping your kids running around in busy streets.

I admit that I have met very well. Boss I really appreciate them, though with a few exceptions, most of them are amiable.

What saddened me is: I believe they repay me with the attitude of "care" because of my love for teams and companies.

So in the early years, I made my boss "manage" my career, which is a big mistake.

Take control of your career path and push it forward. If your boss gives you an opportunity, it depends on whether it fits your plan, including where you want to be and what you want to do. If it doesn't match, it will be rejected.

It's up to you to decide where to go next, how long to stay in the team, or even what projects to take. Master the voice of your career path, because no one will speak for you.

   Influence is different from result, you have to create influence, otherwise it will become an insignificant role.

Don't mix the consequences with the impact. You may cause many results, or small or medium or large. But this is different from the major impact. The impact is that you hook up with the core interests of the company in a certain way, and the result of your hard work may be anything.

So ask yourself: do you have an influence on the company, the customers, the team, or are you just busy dealing with some uncertain tasks? Are you doing a new company plan that exhausts your energy but has no prospects?

Then, do the right thing and focus on the influence.
