Climate Change And Low Carbon Textile Summit Held In Shanghai
Because of its large scale and wide coverage, the textile industry is one of the largest greenhouse gas emissions industries on the planet.
In order to promote the low carbonization development of China's textile industry, in August 16, 2011, the Chinese Academy of Engineering
Environmental Science
The "climate change and low carbon textile high level forum" co sponsored by the Ministry of light textile engineering, academician of the Shanghai Academy of engineering and the academic activities center, Donghua University and Shanghai Textile Science Research Institute held in Shanghai.
The director of the environment and textile engineering department and academician Hao Jiming of Tsinghua University attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
Academicians such as Ji Guobiao, Tang Xiaoyan, Zhou Xiang, Jiang Shicheng, Yao Mu, Sun Jinliang and some 100 experts from relevant universities, research institutes, associations of industry associations, enterprises and government related functional departments attended the meeting.
The forum invited 14 academicians, academician Zhou Xiang, Donghua University, academician Tang Xiaoyan of Peking University, academician Jiang Shicheng of Yizheng chemical fiber Limited by Share Ltd, and Li Jinbao, chairman of China printing and dyeing industry association, to make a keynote report on climate change and carbon emissions, textile carbon footprint assessment, low carbon textile manufacturing, biomass fiber materials development and application of enzyme preparations.
Experts attending the meeting believe that the issue of global warming will be one of the greatest challenges facing mankind in the next few decades.
Developing low-carbon economy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions has gradually become the development direction of all countries.
According to statistics from the national macro sector, textile industry has been listed as a high energy consuming industrial sector in China in terms of power, steel, nonferrous metals, petroleum and petrochemical, building materials and paper making industries.
Under the guidance of the State Council's "textile industry adjustment and revitalization plan", China's textile and dyeing industry has made some achievements in energy saving and emission reduction, but there is still room for energy saving and emission reduction, that is, reducing the space for carbon emissions. Therefore, there is still much work to be done.
The assessment of the carbon footprint of textiles should be done in the life cycle assessment of the textile industry.
Low carbonization
Development involves the use of raw materials, production, distribution, use, disposal and reuse of waste and other links.
Experts suggest that the low carbon development of China's textile industry must rely on continuous technological innovation to improve the contribution rate of science and technology to industrial development.
The use of low carbon raw materials, such as the use of natural fibers, organic natural fibers, biomass fibers and non oil source synthetic fibers, in the process of textile dyeing and finishing, uses energy saving and water-saving processing technology to improve the utilization of energy and water, and to recycle waste textiles.
The application of these technologies can reduce energy consumption and water consumption and reduce pollutant emissions, which is of great significance to the development of low carbon industry in the textile industry.
The forum has invited experts from different disciplines in textile dyeing, finishing, biology and environment to learn through interdisciplinary science.
Communication
Suggestions on how to cope with climate change and achieve the harmonious unification of environmental protection and textile industry development are put forward.
2011 is the year when the year 12th Five-Year begins. The textile industry should speed up the pformation and upgrading so as to contribute to the mitigation of climate change, sustainable development and human health.
