Clothing "Exposure" Can Not Be Ignored
Xiaoli is a standard "online shopping family", often buying clothes on the Internet, feel cheap and save trouble.
Recently, she bought a set of underwear on the Internet. After wearing it for a few days, her skin was itchy and red and swollen.
I have been to the hospital to know that the "three no" underwear of online shopping may be caused by illegal chemical composition.
"Three no" clothing has
Health risk
But brand clothes are not safe.
Recently, Greenpeace released by the international environmental protection organization released a research report that it detected toxic and harmful chemical substance NPE (nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether) in the clothing samples of 14 brands such as Adidas, Lining and crocodile.
NPE is decomposed into NP (Ren Jifen) in the natural environment.
NP has the ability to mimic natural estrogens, which can interfere with endocrine system, and may lead to changes in sexual development of some organisms.
"Now that there is a lot of food to eat, how can it be worn?"
For a time, the health and safety of clothing attracted the attention of consumers.
Chemicals used in the textile industry are the culprits.
In fact, clothing "exposure" mainly stems from the large number of chemicals used in textile production and processing.
Wang Xiaoning, a teacher in the school of materials science and engineering at Beijing Institute Of Fashion Technology, told the scientific times that textile auxiliaries and textile dyes are the most widely used chemicals in textile manufacturing.
Harmful substances are concentrated in dyeing and finishing processes.
According to incomplete statistics, the annual consumption of textile and dyeing auxiliaries in the world is nearly 3 million 200 thousand tons, with nearly 100 categories and 15 thousand varieties.
Textile dyes also have nearly 10000 varieties, with annual consumption of about 900 thousand tons.
"Many of these textile chemicals contain or may cause health problems in the course of their use.
ecological environment
Harmful chemicals. "
Wang Xiaoning also pointed out that from the perspective of textile raw materials, natural fibers will have pesticide residues in the process of planting, while chemical fibers will have chemical residues in the process of synthesis.
Lu Qingsheng, a Beijing Center for Disease Control and prevention, pointed out in a paper that the main harmful substances related to clothing include formaldehyde, mould proof, moth proofing agent, fungicide, dry cleaning agent and dyestuff.
Among them, carcinogenic aromatic amine compounds produced by azo dyes in the human body can lead to malignant tumors such as bladder cancer, ureteral cancer and renal pelvis carcinoma, and their intermediate products, benzene, can cause leukemia.
In addition, heavy metal ions remaining in clothing dyes can enter the body through the skin, accumulate in the liver, bones, kidneys, brain and other parts, and have adverse effects on human health.
However, in Wang Xiaoning's view, these hazards are usually not easy to appear in the short term. "Organic volatile substances or formaldehyde exceed the standard will trigger earlier dermatitis."
But people often ignore the long-term effects of harmful substances in clothing.
Absence of chemical testing for textile products
As a matter of fact, the national mandatory standard for textile products in China, which was introduced in 2005, is the basic safety of national textile products.
technical specifications
"GB/T18401-2003" has strict limits on clothing pH value, formaldehyde, color fastness and decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes.
Generally speaking, the harmful substances residues in textiles that are eventually marketed should not exceed the standard.
However, the reality is not optimistic.
Reporters in some clothing wholesale market to see, many clothing tag does not indicate that it has implemented safety technical specifications, and some even have no basic material composition logo.
Compared with the clothing sold in physical stores, online shopping clothing has higher health risks.
The reporter learned from some Taobao shops selling clothing products that most of the clothes had no formal tag and did not indicate whether they met the requirements of technical safety.
Consumers who choose online shopping clothes rarely ask shopkeepers when they buy them whether they pass chemical tests.
Wang Xiaoning said that because of the detection of harmful substances in textiles requires specialized equipment such as photometer and chromatograph, it is difficult for consumers to identify their residual content by personal ability.
While textile factory, the general merchants only pay attention to the measurement of physical properties such as size, specifications, defects, sewing needle code, dyed color difference and so on, and rarely carry out chemical testing.
"For most chemical substances, manufacturers do not have testing conditions, and can not be tested at all."
Wang Xiaoning also pointed out that very few monitoring agencies went to factories to conduct sampling inspection according to the national standard sampling method, but that manufacturers chose their own samples when needed.
Toxicology of textiles needs further study.
In fact, many countries and organizations have carried out meticulous ecological and toxicological studies on various textile chemicals, and promulgated many laws and regulations that prohibit, limit the use of textile auxiliaries and textile dyes.
For example, in 1998, the Convention on the protection of the marine environment of northeast the Atlantic included NP and NPE in the first batch of chemicals that were first cleared.
This year, the Chinese government also added NP and NPE to the catalogue of toxic chemicals that China strictly restricts import and export.
When shopping in real time, experts advise not to buy Fabrics with peculiar smell. The clothing should avoid red, black and other color fastness products which are easily inconsistent.
Wang Xiaoning pointed out that clothing sales in the mall need to provide national textile products basic safety technical specifications inspection report, but online sales of clothing is actually difficult to accept supervision and inspection.
In order to ensure the safety of textiles, Wang Xiaoning suggested that textile related research institutes should attach importance to the development of non-toxic or low toxic green chemical AIDS; textile enterprises should pay attention to and comply with the relevant laws and regulations, avoid the use of toxic and harmful additives in production and processing; most importantly, the functional departments of the government should increase the publicity and supervision of textile safety, improve the inspection level and ability, and achieve the same quality of export textiles and domestic textiles.
Disease prevention and control experts pointed out that all kinds of harmful substances coexist and interact with each other in real life. The pollution load of human beings is the combined effect of these substances. Therefore, comprehensive evaluation must be carried out in order to correctly assess its impact on human health.
Therefore, experts suggest that the evaluation system of toxicological safety of textiles should be established as soon as possible on the basis of the existing national standards and complement each other with chemical indicators.
