Creative Design And Environmental Protection

2011/8/22 11:32:00 66

The concept of environmental protection has long been popular among big cities.

When environmental protection is gradually being upgraded from resource conservation to fashion, designers are eager to play the infinite creativity and the four words of "best use of everything" to the extreme.

It is reported that the selection of "2011 Asia's most influential design awards", which includes four categories of dress, communication, product and environment, is in progress.

Zhou Wanmei, the design director of the Hongkong design center, introduced two winning works to us and said: design and environmental protection should be coexistence.

 Creative design and environmental protection

"Green school" is self-sufficient.

Just as the world strived to study the ideal way to save the environment, a school hidden in the natural jungle on the banks of Ayung River on the Bali Island quietly became a pioneer.

Bamboo and Alan grass are used to make tables and chairs and blackboards. The walls are made of traditional clay bricks, paved with volcanic rocks and built into floors by earth. Lighting is powered by solar energy, biogas and hydraulic eddy.

The reason why jewelry designer JohnHardy and his wife founded GreenSchool are simple but admirable -- protecting the environment.

At the same time, in order to minimize carbon dioxide emissions and impact on the environment, the basic structure of the whole school is replaced by bamboo instead of hardwood, with local grass as the roof.

In fact, bamboo is an excellent green building material.

Its growth rate is extremely fast, its photosynthetic rate is very high, light weight and extremely elastic, and it is about 50 times that of oak in terms of seismic intensity.

The designer explains.

More specifically, in the school curriculum, students are exposed to a large number of ecological related disciplines and activities, training them to become the next generation of earth stewards.

Zhou Wanmei commented: the works not only widely used bamboo and clay bricks to build unique environmental design, but also design and perfect integration with nature.

Disposable paper bowls return to nature

"Dust to dust, earth to earth."

For the earth, perhaps the essence of environmental protection is to return all the degradation from nature and return it to nature.

With the concept of "Earth to Earth", Japanese designer Ogata Shinichiro has brought a series of WASARA disposable paper tableware.

Generally speaking, in order to avoid mixing impurities in recycled materials, paper tableware is usually made of raw wood pulp as raw material, but the strength and quality of this material are very low and quite unsightly.

To this end, Ogata Shinichiro made a new way to replace wood pulp with raw materials such as raw reeds, bamboo pulp and bagasse, which did not damage the ecological environment, and reduced the excessive consumption of wood raw materials.

Zhou Wanmei commented: these materials are rich in resources and can be used continuously. They are also very easy to decompose.
