World Expo

The first World Expo was held in London, England in May 1, 1851, when Britain was the first power in Europe and the world. In order to show the strength and pride of the country, the British government spent 4500 tons of steel and 300 thousand pieces of glass in 1851, and built a Crystal Palace 1700 feet long and 100 feet high in Hyde Park, London, which was later destroyed by the Second World War. In this glass decorated steel structure, exhibits were exhibited by 10 countries invited by Queen Victoria through diplomatic channels, including notable engines, hydraulic presses and textile machinery at that time. During the 160 days, there were 6 million 300 thousand business people, celebrities and tourists from all over the world. This exhibition means a great change from simple commodity exchange to new production technology and new life concept exchange, which has opened the prelude to the world exposition. The most popular exhibits in World Expo are engine, hydraulic press, textile machinery and other technology products. The advent of them marked the arrival of industrial society and opened up a new page in the development of human society. Therefore, the London exposition was recognized as the first World Expo in the modern sense.
