Beijing Institute Of Fashion Technology is the only full-time college in the country that has the characteristics of clothing, arts and crafts, art, industry, economy, management, science and other disciplines.

Founded in 1959, the school was originally affiliated to the Ministry of textile industry and pferred to Beijing as the main management in 1998.

In recent years, the school has adhered to the school running concept of "seeking innovation and learning for practical use", adhered to the characteristics of running schools, and established a clothing teaching system combining "art education with engineering education, management education, combining national costume culture with modern design concepts, combining theory teaching with practice teaching".

There are more than 7000 students in the school, more than 700 teaching staff, and 5 two level colleges (clothing art and Engineering College, Art Design Institute, material science and Engineering College, business school, Information Engineering College), 2 departments (Foreign Languages Department, plastic arts department), 2 teaching departments (ideological and political theory teaching department, basic teaching department), 1 teaching centers (Computer Information Center), and international college, continuing education college, higher vocational and technical education department and graduate student department.

There are 20 undergraduate majors, 1 master level disciplines, 11 two level master's degree programs, 1 second bachelor's degree programs, and 4 double degree programs.

There are 1 Beijing cities focusing on the construction of first class disciplines (Textile Science and Engineering). There are 3 Beijing key construction two disciplines (design art, art, material science) and 3 key construction disciplines in Beijing (clothing design and engineering, design art, Materials Science) and 3 municipal research institutes (Beijing key Laboratory of clothing materials research and development and evaluation, capital dress culture and garment industry research base, and garment Beijing technology pfer center).

The national costume museum is one of the top ten museums in China.

In the past 50 years, schools have sent more than 2 graduates to the society. Many of them have become leaders in the textile and garment industry.

In recent years, the employment rate of school graduates has been maintained at more than 90% per year. The quality tracking survey of graduates shows that employers have a high evaluation of graduates.
