The growth rate of retail sales improved significantly compared with the first quarter, but there was still a big gap compared with the same period last year.


In the first half of 2012, the growth rate of clothing retail sales was 16.4%, which was 1.9 percentage points higher than the total retail sales of consumer goods, which was 1.4 percentage points higher than that of the wholesale and retail enterprises above designated size.


In the first half of this year, the growth rate of garment retail sales above the designated size was significantly better than that in the first quarter, and the growth rate of retail sales was 2 percentage points higher than that in the first quarter. Meanwhile, according to the statistics of the China National Business Information Center, in the first half of 2012, the sales volume of clothing retail sales of major large retail enterprises in the country increased significantly compared with the first quarter, and the growth rate increased by nearly 3 percentage points to 11.28%.

According to the National Bureau of statistics, in the first half of 2012, the consumer prices of clothing commodities in China increased by 3.7% over the same period last year. The year-on-year increase in May and June dropped by 3.4% and 3.5% respectively.

Price changes showed that clothing prices rose 11.3% over the first half of 2012, or significantly lower than the same period last year.

According to the statistics of the China National Business Information Center, in 2011, when the price of brand clothing rose relatively high, the volume of retail sales of all types of major retail enterprises in China increased by only 4.36%, which was 5.84 percentage points lower than the growth rate of retail sales in 2010. At the same time, the growth of all kinds of clothing retail sales in 2011 was the lowest since 2001.


The rise of prices has gradually become an important factor in the growth of retail sales. In 2011, the contribution rate of clothing price growth to retail sales increased to 79.9%, which was significantly higher than the previous level, which was 28.2 percentage points higher than that in 2010. That is to say, the growth of clothing sales in 2011 is almost 80% from the rise in unit price.


  


 


In the first half of 2012, the volume of retail sales of major retail enterprises in the country grew less than that of last year, a slight decrease of 0.05% compared with the same period last year, which is basically the same as that of the same period last year.


 

However, compared with the 2.6% decline in the first quarter, retail sales in the first half of the year remained flat compared with the same period last year, indicating that the two quarter is on holidays.
