Anti Dumping Of Chinese Leather Shoes

  欧洲零售商协会代表了40万个欧洲的专业从事时尚和鞋履的鞋履零售企业。欧盟的少数成员国在投票中赞成将对从中国和越南进口的皮鞋的反倾销关税延长15个月。

Several members of the abstention (according to the EU's anti-dumping regulations, they were seen as votes in favour) decided to extend the final outcome of anti-dumping duties.

As a result, leather shoes imported from China and Vietnam will continue to levy 16.5% and 10% anti-dumping duties respectively.

Bettyvan Arenthals, President of the European Retailers Association, commented: "once the EU anti-dumping system appeared to be a tool for protectionism rather than protection."

The purpose of the anti-dumping system is to protect the EU companies from unfair competition. It is easy to incur anti-dumping duties when a product exported to Europe and the United States is below the normal value.

The whole procedure of anti-dumping should be based on careful investigation and target finding.

However, under normal circumstances, decisions on anti-dumping cases are only the result of trading and political consultation among Member States driven by special national interests.

The European Retailers Association is very dissatisfied with how to conduct investigations. They believe that the European Commission has failed to prove dumping cases.

This is also the reason why this decision has a negative impact on the EU's trade relations with China and Vietnam.

The situation of EU shoe retailers, importers and consumers is rather low, so they bear the consequences of this cost and trade protection. This is a political decision and an opaque anti-dumping system.

In order to restore the credibility of the European Union, the EU's anti-dumping system needs to be improved and the voting rules changed. This is considered unbalanced.

The European Retailers Association appealed to Member States to end all anti-dumping duties after the 15 months ended.
